Michael Bisping has his sights set on a rematch with Wanderlei Silva and a run at the middleweight title after earning a unanimous decision over Dan Miller in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC 114 in Las Vegas.

“Wanderlei Silva said he wants a rematch with me, and I would love a rematch,” Bisping said at the post-UFC 114 press conference. “I want to fight the best guys out there now. I feel like some of the fights in the past were a little bit too soon, but I’m maturing as a fighter and I’m ready for the challenges.

“I want to build on this win, and hopefully toward the end of this year, early next year, I’ll get a title shot,” Bisping continued. “I want to be the first Englishman to win a title. I was the first [Englishman] to win ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ … and I will be the first English world champion.”

Bisping dropped a unanimous decision to Silva in the main event of February’s UFC 110 in Australia, and now awaits the outcome of Silva’s July meeting with Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 116 before learning if he’ll get the rematch.

Regardless of his next opponent, Bisping is likely to return to action in October at UFC 120 in London, which is also expected to feature fellow Englishman and recent welterweight challenger Dan Hardy.
