UFC News – MMA And UFC News From Syndicated Sources
UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Cain Velasquez have agreed to meet in the main event of UFC 121 on October 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, UFC President Dana White confirmed to MMA Fighting late Friday.
Returning from an illness that had sidelined him since last July, Lesnar (5-1) survived a first-round attack to submit interim title-holder Shane Carwin in the main event at UFC 116 on July 3 for his fourth-straight win.
Velasquez (8-0) remained undefeated and earned a shot at the heavyweight title by scoring a first-round TKO of former champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at February’s UFC 110.
The UFC’s fall schedule also includes “UFC 119: Mir vs. Nogueira 2” on September 25 in Indianapolis and “UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama” on October 16 in London.
