As expected, undefeated contender Cain Velasquez will challenge for the heavyweight title against the winner of Saturday’s UFC 116 main event between heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar and interim title-holder Shane Carwin.
“Cain fights the winner of (Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin), probably as soon as possible,” UFC President Dana White said at Thursday’s UFC 116 pre-fight press conference. “Cain’s been waiting a long time.”
