Forrest Petz Replaces Julio Paulino, Meets Daniel Roberts on UFC 116 Prelims
Julio Paulino has withdrawn from his UFC 116 matchup with Daniel Roberts for undisclosed reasons, but welterweight veteran Forrest Petz has agreed to return to Octagon on short notice to face Roberts on the preliminary card of the July 3 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas.
Petz was released by the UFC in 2007 after falling to 2-3 inside the Octagon with a loss to Josh Burkman, but “The Meat Cleaver” is currently riding a four-fight win streak that includes a unanimous decision over Ralph Johnson at last month’s “Moosin: God of Martial Arts” event.
After starting his career with nine-straight wins, Roberts suffered a first-round knockout to John Howard in his UFC debut in March at UFC on Versus 1.
“UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin” is headlined by the return of heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar vs. interim title-holder Shane Carwin, and also features Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva.
