Thiago Silva Targeting December UFC Return

Thiago SilvaSidelined since a January loss to Rashad Evans, former light heavyweight contender Thiago Silva will soon resume training from a back injury which forced him off August’s UFC 117 and is targeting a December return to UFC action.

“This time I got hurt one week before the fight, and it was even more serious,” Silva told Tatame. “I lost the movement of my right leg, but I’m doing my recovery work now. I’m not training it all, but they say I’ll be able to train within four weeks.

“I’ll fight this year, probably in December. The division is stronger, in my opinion, it’s the most disputed on UFC. Unfortunately, my bad luck is keeping me out of it, but I deserve to conquest my space.”

After pushing his record to 13-0 with four-straight UFC wins, Silva (14-2) has lost two of his last three, rebounding from a loss to Lyoto Machida with a win over Keith Jardine last August before dropping a unanimous decision to Evans in the main event of UFC 108.
